SCHIMMEL GLASS
ABOUT THE INSTRUMENT
Originally created in 1951 by Arno Schimmel the Glass grands design was updated, refined and relaunched in the 1980's by Mr Nikolaus Schimmel. The glass grand was Initially conceived as a show-stopping piano for stage use where the lid could be raised without obscuring musicians and objects that might be behind the piano. The Glass grand has also been developed since its re-introduction and has gone through 205, 208 and now 213 model iterations. The dense plexiglass material does influence the sound of the instrument and glass grands have a particularly strong bass.
Options for the piano include the Body in white complete with white frame and soundboard. This can be particularly effective on stage where the piano reflects the colour of the stage lighting appearing to change colour.
The Body in black is often accompanied with a gold frame and natural colour soundboard. As Standard, all the metal parts are gold plated however these can be chromed by request.
Dimmable Internal lighting is an option that enables the instrument to glow from its edges.
